Hmmm…to keep my sanity: the blog or reading a fun book or crochet. I rarely get to do all of these things but if I can get to one my sanity for the day is usually saved, providing that I have already said my prayers of course – because that is the ultimate sanity saver (but you already know that!).
To keep my house clean: empty the dishwasher, fill the dishwasher, empty the dishwasher, fill the dishwasher! :o) I also have gotten into the habit of emptying all the little trash cans daily.
Routine! Routine! Routine!
Once you get your house the way you want it, doing a little each day to keep up makes a huge difference.
Have the kids help – generally, I think kids like to do what mom & dad are doing, and they like to be helpful.
Usually, I get the ‘big stuff’ (i.e. mopping) done while Martin is napping, then enjoy the rest of nap time to myself.
My sanity depends on a clean house. ( I know. I’m a freak.)
Yes, Andrea you are! 🙂
I have three separate cleaning lists: one for daily tasks (ie. dishes, at LEAST one load of laundry, etc), one for weekly tasks (each day of the week has a different job ie. Wed – clean bathroom & wash bath rugs. Thurs-wash bed linen, etc.), and a dry erase board that has a pre-printed calendar on it where I just fill in monthly tasks – ie. windows, door knobs, washing the carpet w/ the carpet cleaner. I make a good effort to get what I need to get done, but obviously it doesn’t always happen! I just do what I can do, and not stress about the rest. Having the kids help out is nice, too. They LOVE to fold laundry!
