What’s on your menu?

I am so excited for our dinner tomorrow, I want to cook it today. I figured that living in the south, we are going to try to eat like southerners tomorrow, so I have picked recipes from my two favourite** southern cooks, Alton Brown and Paula Deen. (I love those guys!)

Our menu will be:

Roasted Turkey (unstuffed)

Paula Deen’s Southern Cornbread Stuffing.

Alton Brown’s Best Ever Green Been Casserole

Rolls

Pecan Pie – minus the chocolate, Joshua would rebel. The pie is done and is made with fresh South Georgia pecans!

What will be on your table tomorrow?

  1. Mmmmm….sounds good. Us: Appetizers: stuffed mushrooms, spinach dip and crackers. Main meal: Roasted Turkey (unstuffed), Potato bake (made with country style hash browns, sour cream, cheese and other seasonings), mashed potatoes, homemade bread stuffing, corn, croissants, cranberry orange jello salad, gravey. For dessert: two pumpkin pies, one apple pie and one nutella icecream pie. We are serving six adults; one a college student who will eat all the left-overs within 24 hours! God Bless your southern Thanksgiving Day!

  2. How did the green been casserole turn out. I soooo want to try that recipe! (minus the mushrooms…yuk!)

We had pretty typical stuff: Roast turkey, stuffing (or “filling as the PA visitors call it), cranberry dipping sauce (Alton Brown), mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, beer bread (AB), cocoa brownies (AB), chewy chocolte chip cookies (AB), key lime pie, pumpkin pie, yellow cake with chocolate icing, various crackers and cheese.

    • The green bean casserole was pretty good, I would make it again!

I will write a full review of dinner in a few days.
